Review 16th ThGOT and 13th Biomaterials Colloquium 2022

After a two-year forced break from Corona, the ThGOT and Biomaterials Colloquium could finally take place again on June 14 and 15, 2022.

Many thanks to all speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, poster authors, partners and supporters as well as to all participants who traveled to Zeulenroda in such large numbers.

Current topics in the field of surface technology and biomaterials were addressed in 7 plenary and 30 short presentations. At the 16th ThGOT, presentations focused on antibacterial surfaces, 3D printing, washing processes, new trends and sustainable surface technology.

"Fascinating", "impressive" and "inspiring" - these were often heard comments on the accompanying poster exhibition. The best feedback and the most votes in the poster selection were received by the joint contribution of INNOVENT e.V. (Franziska Trodtfeld, Dr. Tina Tölke, Ronny Köcher) and the Clinic for Dermatological Diseases at the University Hospital Jena (PD Dr. Cornelia Wiegand) on the topic "Prolamin-SiO2 hybrid material: characterization, functionality and biocompatibility".

Prof. Dr. Stefan Spange also gave his evening lecture on fungi and toxins in a sympathetic, entertaining and entertaining manner and thus led over to the comfortable part of the first day of the event. In perfect weather, the participants, speakers and exhibitors were able to sum up the Border and Surface Technology Days in the beer garden of the Bio-Seehotel with a view of the Zeulenroda Sea and enjoy delicious barbecue specialties, continue or deepen the day's discussions and make new contacts.

On the second day of the event, the top-class panels of the 13th Biomaterials Colloquium provided up-to-date perspectives on nanomaterials and nanomedicine, biofunctional surfaces and structures for tissue engineering, and hemocompatible materials and blood-material interactions, and comprehensively discussed the respective topics.

We are very pleased about the successful presence event and the accompanying industry exhibition with a lot of positive feedback or constructive criticism. Thus, we cast a hopeful glance into the future and to the 17th ThGOT in 2023.
